Mattheus continues his unbeaten run in the Taça BH. On Saturday afternoon (17.08/2), at Arena Jacaré, in Sete Lagoas, Minas Gerais, the midfielder scored Flamengo's first goal in a 2-XNUMX draw with Atlético/MG. Cleber dos Santos' team beat Grêmio Osasco in the first round and remains undefeated in the competition.
The team took the field with the following lineup: Luan, Roberth, Rafael Dumas, Leandro, and Pablo; Recife, Victor Hugo, and Mattheus; Romário, Eduardo, and Igor Sartori. Just eight minutes in, Mattheus opened the scoring. He took advantage of Romário's cross and headed it into the net. Despite having been superior during the first 45 minutes, the Rubro-Negro conceded a goal, and the first half ended in a draw.
The second half was more even, but Flamengo once again found the net first. In the 14th minute, Pablo left Igor Sartori facing goal. The striker dribbled past the goalkeeper, got past a defender, and tapped the ball into the back of the net. After this move, Galo improved and eventually equalized again in the 40th minute.
"It was a good draw, but it tasted like defeat. Atlético are qualified, they came with the same objective as us, and so we knew it would be a tough game. We'll continue to strive for a good position in the group," said striker Romário after the final whistle.
Flamengo is in group B and will play again next Monday (19.08), at 15:30 pm, at Arena do Jacaré, in Sete Lagoas, against Funorte.
