At the end of April, it will be the turn of the "Garotos do Ninho" to visit Europe. Their debut in the 28th Verona Supper Cup, held in the Verona region of Italy, will be on April 28.04 against Arsenal of England at the Gavagnin Stadium in Venice. Completing Group B of the international competition are the Italian teams Atalanta and Chievo Verona, which Flamengo will face next. Group A consists of Real Madrid (ESP), Juventus (ITA), Hellas Verona (ITA), and Bassano Virtus (ITA). The top two teams in each group will play in the semifinals.
"The importance of holding an exchange program and participating in international competitions like these is to provide our athletes with the opportunity to play against and interact with the world's top football teams, facing athletes from different cultures and styles of play. We have no doubt that this will provide them with a fantastic experience both in their personal lives, which is also a major concern of ours, and in their athletic development. Furthermore, we can benchmark the level of our athletes against the main football market," explained Carlos Noval, Flamengo's Director of Youth Football.
The red-and-black U-15 team will also travel to compete in tournaments in Europe. The youngsters will participate, from April 14th to 17th, in the eighth edition of the Stefano Gusella Memorial Tournament in Turin, a competition that brings together youth teams from prestigious Italian and European teams, such as Juventus, Milan, Roma, Sampdoria, Napoli, Spartak Moscow, CSKA, and Espanyol.
