Flamengo defeated Botafogo 3-1 on Sunday morning (17.02) in Gávea. Despite the three goals on the scoreboard, the match was very balanced, but Rubro-Negro knew how to take better advantage of the scoring chances and left the field victorious.

The standout performer of the match was striker Douglas Baggio, who scored a stunning goal by bursting into the box, dribbling past two opponents, and shooting into the corner past the goalkeeper. Digão completed the scoring, converting a penalty awarded to Romário, and Renam, with a shot from mid-range.

Flamengo's next challenge will be next weekend against Olaria, in the 8th and final round of the Guanabara Cup, on a date and time yet to be determined. With the victory over Botafogo, Mengão moved into the lead of Group B, level with Fluminense, with 18 points. Flamengo faces Volta Redonda later today at 16 p.m. at Raulino de Oliveira Stadium.
