Fernando wants another trophy for his collection
Having been at Flamengo for ten years, the defender has already won the most important competition in the junior category: the São Paulo Cup

On Flamengo's U-20 team, that player is Fernando Fernandes Rodrigues. Captain, defender, and undisputed starter for Cleber dos Santos's team, Fernando leads the defense that conceded the fewest goals in the Taça Rio. Over the next two Saturdays, alongside his teammates, he has the mission of preventing the Red-Blacks from conceding against Fluminense. With two draws, the defender will have the pleasure of lifting the Campeonato Carioca trophy.
"I know my responsibility is great, but I have teammates who share it with me," said the captain of the Mais Querido youth team, who has been with Flamengo for ten years. In 2003, Fernando arrived to play futsal for the club, and two years later, he moved to the field. He has already won five titles with the red-and-black youth team and can't wait to win his sixth.
"It's great to lift a trophy. The emotion is different, but I don't get nervous, because I'm a very calm person. I hope to lift another trophy after the second game against Fluminense," said Fernando.
The two matches against Fluminense that will decide the state title in the junior category will be held on May 11th and 18th. The games will be held at the Moça Bonita Stadium in Bangu, and Mais Querido will need two draws to be crowned champion. However, if a team wins the first match and loses the second by the same goal difference, the decision will go to penalties.
