The Juvenil (under-17) also beat the black-and-white team 3-1, with two goals from Sávio and one from Pepê. Also on Saturday (27.09), in the OPG Cup, the Júnior (under-20) team of Flamengo defeated Volta Redonda 3-2. Marquinhos, Darlan and Ronaldo scored for Mais Querido.
To close the big weekend for the red-black boys, on Sunday (29.09), the under-13 and under-14 teams traveled to Itaguaí, in the interior of Rio de Janeiro, to face Vasco. Despite the 1-1 draw for the youngest, Flamengo's under-14s beat the Cruzmaltinos in a resounding manner, with a score of 3-0, with goals from Vitor, Vinícius and Yuri.
The red-and-black teams are all performing well in the current championships, with the U-14, U-15, U-16, and U-20 teams leading their respective competitions. Aware of the positive momentum of the Mais Querido youth teams, the coaching staff guarantees that this is all the result of long-term planning. "We've been on a very positive path of developing the boys since winning the Friendship Cup. We identified many quality players and, with the recruitment department, brought in some needed players. We developed a plan for the athletes in January, analyzing tactical behavior, technical development, psychological, physical, and competitive aspects, and now we're reaping some very interesting results," concluded Carlos Eduardo Borges, Technical Coordinator of the Mirim, Infantil, and Juvenile categories.
