Competing in international tournaments according to the established criteria is part of the development of talent at Clube de Regatas do Flamengo. The under-14 team departed almost a week ago for Sardinia, an island in southern Italy, to participate in the 40th edition of the Manlio Selis International Tournament. This Sunday, Flamengo defeated Como-ITA 2-0 at the Bruno Nespoli Stadium, winning their second consecutive title in the competition. The goals were scored by Kauã and Yago Lelis.

Being a champion is a consequence, but it's part of Flamengo's DNA. Equally important, or even more so, was representing Brazilian football in a dignified manner, captivating the Italians, who even cheered for the Flamengo youth team in the final against a team from their own country.

Flamengo dominated Como throughout the match and had chances to open the scoring in the first half. However, the first goal only came in the second half, more precisely in the 8th minute, when Rafa Luka took a corner from the right and found Kauã Lopes, who simply tapped it into the net. Flamengo sealed the victory with a beautiful pass from João Link to Yago Lelis, who penetrated down the left and delicately chipped the ball past the goalkeeper. Amidst applause from the fans, the Flamengo youth team lifted the trophy on the field and celebrated their victory in the locker room.

It took seven games to win the title. The biggest victory came in the opening match: 12-0 against Cosmo Sassari-ITA. In the second round, Flamengo beat Ferrini Cagliari, another Italian team, 7-0. Qualification for the round of 16 came with a goalless draw in the first leg against Como. A 7-0 victory, this time against Chisola-ITA, secured their place in the quarterfinals. Two more wins against traditional Italian teams sealed their spot in the final, both 3-0 victories over Atalanta and Juventus.

Flamengo won six matches and drew one; they scored 34 goals and didn't concede any. Lucas Beda, Rafa Luka, and Davi Luiz were Flamengo's top scorers, with five goals each. Kauã, Yago, and João Link scored three each; and Luiz Miguel and Gustavo scored two each. Enzo, João Henrique, Allefer, Rhuan, Querino, and an own goal completed the scoring charts.
