Flamengo wins in the quarterfinals of the Carioca Sub-15 and draws with Botafogo in the semifinals of the Copa Rio Sub-16
The younger team beats Sampaio Corrêa in the first leg, away from home, and practically guarantees its place in the semifinals
By Communication - inOne win and one draw. These were Flamengo's results in the two qualifying matches played by the under-15 and under-16 categories, respectively. In the first, the team overcame Sampaio Corrêa in the Carioca quarterfinals, defeating them 5-0, despite playing away from home at Lourival Gomes Stadium in Saquarema. In Gávea, the under-16 team drew 1-1 with Botafogo at José Bastos Padilha Stadium.
Having finished third in the Guanabara U-15 Cup, Mengão practically secured a spot in the Carioca semifinals. From the start, the youngsters set a strong pace. The goal took a while, but it came in the 20th minute, scored by Marcos Pierre. In the 34th minute, Gui Queiroz scored the second, taking advantage of a pass from Leonardo Gabriel.
The third goal for the red-and-black team came just one minute into the second half, this time with a role reversal: Gui Queiroz assisted and Leonardo Gabriel scored. Six minutes later, Marcos Pierre scored again from the penalty spot. The fifth was scored by Davi Fraga, with a pass from Thomas Robson. The return leg will be next Saturday (1), at 7 pm, in Gávea.
In the first leg of the Copa Rio U-16 semifinal, the Garotos do Ninho started strongly, opening the scoring after just six minutes against Botafogo. Pedrinho scored after receiving an assist from Kauã. The team, however, failed to follow through and failed to find the net again. Their opponents equalized in the 6th minute of the second half, sealing the victory.
The return game is scheduled for next Saturday (7), at 10 am, at Nilton Santos Stadium.
