Flamengo beat América-MG 1-0 on Tuesday afternoon (4), at Sesc Alterosas, in Minas Gerais, in the first leg of the round of 20 of the Copa do Brasil Sub-10. With the result, Mais Querido will play for a draw at Gávea, next Monday (XNUMX), in the second leg, to advance to the quarterfinals of the competition.

The game

The match began with América-MG trying to impose initial pressure, but Flamengo defended well and established the balance of the game.

Mengão's first big chance came from Petterson, who cut inside and took a shot from outside the box. América's goalkeeper made a great save and sent the ball out for a corner. On the third consecutive shot, Petterson lifted it, and Cleiton rose higher than everyone to head it into the back of the net: 1-0 Flamengo.

The Nest Boys didn't rest on their laurels and went in search of a bigger lead. In the final stretch of the first half, Petterson fired another shot from outside the box, but the ball grazed the post. The Mais Querido went into halftime with a partial victory.

Flamengo returned for the second half the same way they finished the first, on top. The first few minutes were filled with red-and-black pressure.

In the 13th minute, América-MG launched a quick counterattack, and after a shot, the ball deflected, but Kauã Santos made a spectacular save to keep Mengão ahead. Following that,, Marcos Paulo arrived well at the baseline and crossed into the area, Wesley headed and the América goalkeeper prevented the second goal of the match.

América pushed forward in search of a draw, but Flamengo maintained their defensive solidity and held the advantage until the final whistle.

Garotos do Ninho will return to the field next Monday (10), in Gávea, for the second leg of the match.
