Flamengo Adidas Cup 2023: results from the second day of matches at Ninho do Urubu

Four more matches valid for the First Phase of the competition were played on Tuesday afternoon at CT George Helal

The second round of the Flamengo Adidas Cup 2023 has come to an end. On Tuesday morning (12), the George Helal Training Center, in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), hosted four more matches. Mengão competes in the competition with the U-15 and U-16 teams and was surpassed in both categories this morning.

At 9 a.m., at Field 3 of Ninho do Urubu, Flamengo faced Cerro Porteño. The Flamengo U-16 team dominated the attack and had more scoring chances, but the Paraguayans managed to capitalize on one of the few opportunities in the box and won 1-0. The goal came when full-back Baez took a corner kick from the left in the 29th minute of the second half; no one managed to clear it, and the ball ended up in the back of the net.

While the Brazilians and Paraguayans faced each other, on another field at the Flamengo training center, the Danish team Midtjylland defeated Orlando City, from the United States, by a score of 3-0. Nicolaj Hansen scored the first goal in the third minute of the first half, Sean Lucian extended the lead in the 12th minute of the second half and, five minutes later, Lucian appeared again with a great goal and gave the final score to the duel.

The day's other two matches took place at 10:45 a.m. On field 6, Flamengo U-15 lost to Santos Laguna (MEX) 2-1. The Flamengo team took the lead with a beautiful goal from Jhefinho, a brilliant individual play, in the 23rd minute of the first half. The Mexicans leveled the score ten minutes into the second half, with Luis Ángel, and turned the score around in the 31st minute, with Carillo scoring.

On field 3, São Paulo defeated Arsenal 3-0. Lucca scored the first goal late in the first half, in the 30th minute, giving São Paulo the lead at halftime. In the second half, just 11 minutes in, Carneiro capitalized on a loose ball in the box to extend the lead. In the final moments, Ariel made a beautiful individual play to seal São Paulo's victory over the English side.

The competition resumes this Wednesday with four more matches. The third round will feature Flamengo U-16 vs. Colo-Colo and Midtjylland (Denmark) vs. Cerro Porteño at 9 a.m., Santos Laguna (Mexico) vs. São Paulo, and Atlético Nacional vs. Arsenal at 10:45 a.m. Mengão's U-15 team will rest this Wednesday and return to the field the following day.

The Flamengo Adidas Cup 2023 is a U-16 competition, and the competition rules provide for two 35-minute halves of the match. There are five rounds in the First Phase, Semifinals, and the final, which will be played on Sunday (17). Fla TV will broadcast all the tournament matches live.
