Flamengo wins the Under-20 Guanabara Cup
With goals from Douglas Baggio and Jorge, Mais Querido beat Botafogo and secured a spot in the final of the State Championship in the category

The Flamengo fans in Moça Bonita sang loudly the song in honor of Flamengo's under-20 team, which won the Guanabara Cup in the category this Saturday afternoon (02.05). The team had the advantage of a draw but went on the attack and beat Botafogo 2-0, with goals from Douglas Baggio and Jorge. It was another victory for the Flamengo youth team on the day, which won two games in the morning.
Present at the stadium, president Eduardo Bandeira de Mello celebrated the trophy. "It's that thing: if you wear red and black, there's no one else. These kids deserve congratulations. It was a very difficult game, but the important thing is that we won. From the goalkeeper to the left winger, I think everyone has what it takes to help Flamengo, and I'm sure many of them will be on the first team," the director analyzed.

The game
Flamengo started the game at full strength. Douglas Baggio, the competition's top scorer, was returning from injury, and the team also had Matheus Sávio, Jajá, and Jorge. called up for the U-20 World CupIn the first half, both teams pressed intensely and conceded little space. Rubro-Negro had its best chance with Cafú, but the teams went into the break tied.
Eleven minutes into the second half, the referee ruled offside on a header by Flamengo's Rafael Dumas. Botafogo nearly opened the scoring afterward. Flamengo continued to have the better chances until Thiago Santos got past Flamengo defender Baiano and was held. The referee issued a second yellow card and sent off the Botafogo player.
In the 36th minute, Douglas Baggio crossed the ball and opened the scoring. Soon after, Botafogo had another player sent off, with Rabello. In the 43rd minute, Jorge scored the second and sealed the match. "It's a wonderful feeling. When I heard I was going to the World Cup, I was so happy, and now I can score this goal and help the team before traveling. I'd also like to thank this wonderful crowd, who came here to support us. The team has been working hard since the beginning of this championship, and many people didn't believe in us. Today, we got this result," revealed the left-back.
