Flamengo ends, this Sunday (12.12), its participation in the group stage of the 20 Brazilian Under-2010 Championship. And to ensure that the game against Atlético-MG is not also the last of the red-black campaign in the competition, coach Paulo Henrique's team needs to win at any cost.
With four points from three matches (one win, one draw, and one loss), the team from Gávea is in second place in the group, tied with Galo, but with a game in hand. Palmeiras leads with six. Even with a win, Flamengo won't automatically secure its spot. However, it will depend on other results. If they don't win, however, the team is practically eliminated.
The Flamengo lineup for the match has not yet been finalized. One new development is the return of left-back Jorbison, who missed the match against Atlético-GO due to a suspension. The main doubts lie in the midfield forward, including Rafinha's starting role. Flamengo's likely starting lineup consists of Cesar, Alex, Marllon, Mateus, and Jorbison; Maycon (Lorran), João Vitor, Luiz Antônio, and Rafinha; Negueba and Thomas.
"We're going to go after this victory and this qualification. Flamengo enters any competition to win, and this one is no different. We know we need to play very well to get the result, and we'll do our best to achieve that," said defender Marllon.
