Coach Maurício Souza released on Monday afternoon (01) the list of 25 athletes related to the 49th edition of the São Paulo Junior Football Cup. Three-time champion of the biggest youth football competition in Brazil (1990, 2011 and 2016), Flamengo is in group 21, based in the city of Barueri, and will debut on Wednesday (03) at 21:30 pm against Ji-Paraná (RO). SporTV and ESPN Brasil will broadcast live the first match of the Garotos do Ninho this season. 

Next, Mais Querido will face Aimoré (RS) on Saturday, the 06th, at 19:15 pm, and Oeste (SP) on the 09th at 19:30 pm. Both matches will be broadcast live on SporTV. The top two teams in the group will qualify for the second phase of the competition.

Many of the youngsters who were the foundation of our U-20 team have moved up to the professional ranks, which is great and shows that Flamengo's youth academy is doing very well. We've welcomed a very talented group that won two U-17 Rio de Janeiro championships and reached the Copa do Brasil semifinals in 2017. Now that they've reached the U-20s, they still have a lot of room for improvement, which is more than normal for their age. Regardless, we're wearing the Flamengo jersey, and anyone who wears this Sacred Mantle always has a title in mind. We're going strong for this competition, and we hope to improve with each match and go far in the Copinha," said coach Maurício Souza.
