The state championship is over and the focus of coach Phelipe Leal's team is now on the U-17 Brazil Cup. This Thursday (25), the Garotos do Ninho host América-MG, at Gávea, at 3 pm, for the second leg of the round of 16 of the national competition. 

In the first leg, the teams drew 1-1 in Belo Horizonte. A victory by any score guarantees Flamengo a place in the quarterfinals. In case of another draw, the match will go to penalty kicks.

Coach Phelipe Leal named the following players for the match:

Braian, Bruno, Bruno Gabriel, Daniel Cabral, Denilson, Gabriel Noga, Gomes, Ítalo, João Gabriel, João Fernando, Lázaro, Lucas Freitas, Lucas Gabriel, Luis Gustavo, Natan, Otavio, Pedro Arthur, Pedro Victor, Reinier, Rhyan, Sidney, Weverton, Yuri de Oliveira.  

The Flamengo youth team reached the round of 16 after winning their first match against Londrina. Playing at the Estádio do Café, Flamengo lost 1-0. In the second leg, at Gávea, Flamengo won 4-1.

Against América-MG, the 1-1 draw away from home leaves the tie open for the return leg. Whoever wins the match at Gávea will qualify for the quarterfinals. In case of another draw, the decision of who gets the spot will be on penalties.

América-MG kicked off their run in the national competition against Chapecoense. Playing at home at Arena do Jacaré, the team won 1-0. In Santa Catarina, Chape came back, but América prevailed 3-2 on penalties and advanced to the next round.

There will be no ticket sales for the match, and entry to the Gávea Stadium will be free. The Flamengo fans are welcome to support the young players from the youth academy as they seek qualification in the U-17 Copa do Brasil.

In the round of 16, the teams face each other in two-legged matches. The team with the most points in the tie advances to the quarterfinals. If, at the end of the two matches, the teams are tied on points, the following tie-breaking criteria will be used: 1st - goal difference; 2nd - penalties.
