Flamengo and Botafogo faced each other today (22), at the Trops Athletes Training Center (CEFAT), in Niteroí, for the return match of the Carioca Under-17 Championship. The match ended in a 1-1 draw and with the result Rubro-Negro qualified for the semi-final, as the first leg was won 3-0, in Gávea.

The game

In the first 20 minutes of the first half, the game was very tight with few chances for either side. The game was well controlled by the Flamengo youth team. And shortly before the water break, Flamengo opened the scoring with a powerful play by center forward Jonathan. The number 9 outmuscled and outpaced the Botafogo defender, firing a low shot across the goal into the corner of the net to open the scoring.

At the end of the first half, Botafogo scored the equalizer after a low cross from the right side; the opposing attack managed to get a shot off, thus tying the game at 1-1.

In the second half, Flamengo and Botafogo went on the attack, trying to turn the game around and fight for qualification. Botafogo had the advantage if the aggregate score ended in a draw, meaning they would qualify. But even after spending much of the time in Flamengo's half, they couldn't turn the game around, and Flamengo secured qualification.
