Flamengo won the Recopa Carioca Sub-15 this Saturday morning (7), after beating Fluminense 2-0 at Estádio José Bastos Padilha, in Gávea. With a heat index of 31°C, Rubro-Negro, the current Carioca champion, showed tactical organization, defensive solidity and efficiency in decisive moments to lift the trophy of the tournament that brings together the winners of the State Championship and the Copa Rio of the 2025 season.

The goals in the final were scored by Davi Borges in the first half and by defender Samuel Barbosa in the second half. Goalkeeper Alessandro also stood out, saving a penalty when the score was still 1-0, maintaining Flamengo's lead.

The game

The match began with Fluminense in possession and a lot of battling in midfield. Both teams struggled to create space in the opening minutes, in a game marked by strong marking and intense tackles.

Flamengo's first dangerous attack came in the 15th minute. After a corner kick, the Fluminense goalkeeper parried the ball, which went out of play. In the next play, Flamengo shot again, but goalkeeper Pedro Taccolini made another save. Defensively, Flamengo showed security. Defender Felipe Clemente, known as Pina, stood out in aerial balls, while Samuel Barbosa controlled the ground play well.

When the game seemed headed for a draw at halftime, Flamengo opened the scoring. In the 34th minute, José Souza received the ball in attack and found Davi Borges on the left wing. The number 11 finished with precision, finding the back of the net to score a beautiful goal: 1-0 for Flamengo. In celebration, the striker celebrated at the corner flag, paying homage to Vinícius Júnior, also a product of the club's youth academy.

After 3 minutes of added time, the referee ended the first half: a balanced period, with many physical challenges and clear chances for both sides.

The second half began with Flamengo taking the kickoff. Six minutes in, Fluminense had a great chance to equalize. After a foul committed inside the area, the referee awarded a penalty. Jean Carlos, number 10 and captain of Fluminense, took the penalty kick to the left corner, but Alessandro managed to parry it away. On the rebound, there was still a shot on goal, and the Flamengo goalkeeper appeared again to hold the ball, making a great save and securing Flamengo's partial lead.

The home team's response was immediate. Following the play, Alessandro launched the team into attack and Flamengo won a corner kick in the 9th minute. The ball worked down the right resulted in a good offensive move: Noáh Silva passed to Marcos Fernandes, who found Lucca Tatsch. At 37', Mateus Silva almost scored the third goal with a shot from outside the area that went just wide.

After five minutes of added time, the referee ended the match and confirmed Flamengo's victory in the Recopa Carioca against Fluminense at Gávea.

During the celebration, the director of youth football at Flamengo, Alfredo Almeida, highlighted the process of developing the athletes:

“We must never forget that victory and the title are a consequence for the grassroots. We don't just seek to win, we seek 'how we win'. And the same applies when we don't win. It's not simply about not winning the title, it's about understanding why we didn't win. I believe that the consequence is greater than the result.”

Coach Diogo Calhau emphasized the importance of continuing the work with the championship-winning group:

"This is work that has been ongoing since last year: we were state champions and Fluminense won the Rio Cup. Flamengo has a lot of faith in this group, which has many talented players and is very committed. We played a great game today, and that shows their commitment."

One of the standout players of the match, number 10 Marcos Fernandes celebrated the title won alongside his teammates:

"The game was great. Thank God we came away with the title. It's very important for us as a group and as a family. I'm very happy about this achievement and I hope it's the first of many with my brothers."

Decisive in saving the penalty, goalkeeper Alessandro also celebrated the moment.
