Flamengo and Fluminense play a classic at Giulite Coutinho in the Brazilian Under-20 Championship

Ninho Boys have already qualified for the semi-finals of the national competition

The Garotos do Ninho beat Coritiba 3-2 in the last round and secured early qualification for the semi-finals of the Brazilian Under-20 Championship. This Wednesday (19), coach Marcio Torres' team returns to the field to face Fluminense, at 17 pm, at Giulite Coutinho, in the final round of the group stage of the Brazilian Championship.

"We're very focused on this match; we've been training hard this week. You don't play derbies, you win derbies. We're going in there looking to take first place in the overall standings," said midfielder Reinier. 

A leading figure in the club's youth academy, Reinier joined the U-20 team at just 16. Wearing the number 10 on his back, the midfielder scored his first goal for the club in the club's first-leg victory over Fluminense. "It's a unique feeling; it's very gratifying to score my first goal for the U-20 team in the derby. God willing, I'll be able to score again and come away with the victory," the player remarked.

Flamengo vs Fluminense
Flamengo heads into the derby against Fluminense with the best record in the second phase. In total, they've played five games, won four, lost only one, and had an 80% success rate. The Mais Querido has scored 12 goals, conceded nine, and has a positive goal difference of three. Vitor Gabriel and Dantas are the team's top scorers with four goals each.

The derby, valid for the first round of this stage, was played at Los Larios, with Fluminense playing at home. The result was a flurry of goals. The "Garotos do Ninho" won the match 3-2, with goals from Klebinho, Wendel, and Reinier, while Fluminense pulled one back with goals from Caio and Leandro Spadacio.

Tickets for the match will not be sold, and admission to Giulite Coutinho Stadium will be free. The nation is welcome to support the Garotos do Ninho as they seek another victory in the Brasileirão U-20.

Form of dispute
The clubs are divided into two groups of four teams each. Two teams per group qualify for the semifinals and then the final. It's worth noting that from the second stage onward, the teams play home and away until the final.
