This Wednesday (7), Flamengo's Under-20 team faces an important and decisive commitment in the Otávio Pinto Guimarães Tournament. At 16 pm, at the Conselheiro Galvão Stadium, the Garotos do Ninho face Madureira for the 5th round of the second phase of the OPG.

Currently second in Group E, the "Mais Querido" (Most Beloved) needs a victory over the "Tricolor Suburbano" (Suburban Tricolor) to keep their hopes of qualifying for the tournament final alive. Only the first-placed team advances to the final. 

Coach Marcio Torres has selected the following players for the match:

Aderlan, Bill, Gabriel Kazu, Henrique, Hugo Souza, João Fernando, Klebinho, Lucas Silva, Luiz Henrique, Marx, Matheus, Nathan, Pablo, Patrick, Ruan, Souza, Victor Hugo, Victor Santana, Vitor Gabriel, Vitor Ricardo, Wendel, and Yuri. 

Flamengo, nicknamed "The Most Beloved," is in second place in Group E with seven points, one less than the leader Olaria. The team's campaign in the second phase has been a rollercoaster. In four matches played so far, Flamengo won against Madureira (2-1) and America (1-0), drew one (1-1), and lost another (2-0) to Olaria.

To compete for their tenth OPG title in the grand final, the Garotos do Ninho (Flamengo's youth team) need to win both remaining matches in this qualifying phase and hope for at least one slip-up from the team from Rua Bariri.

Madureira is currently in third place in the standings with six points. In this phase of the competition, Madureira won both matches against America 1-0, and lost to Flamengo (1-2) and Olaria (0-1).

 

There will be no ticket sales for the match, and entry to the Conselheiro Galvão Stadium will be free. The Flamengo fans are welcome to support the Flamengo youth team as they seek victory in the OPG U-20 Tournament.

Eight teams are divided into two groups of four associations. The teams will play each other within their own group in a home-and-away format. From there, the two teams that will compete in the final will emerge.
