Flamengo's Under-17 team faces another big challenge in the quest for the unprecedented Copa do Brasil title. This Thursday (15), the Garotos do Ninho face Santos in the first semifinal match, at 15 pm, at the Estádio Distrital do Inamar, in Diadema.
The Brazilian Under-17 Cup has been organized by the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation) since 2013, becoming the main national tournament in the category alongside the Taça BH. Since then, Flamengo has participated in all five editions, reaching the decisive stages. In the first edition, they were runners-up. In 2014, 2015, and 2017, they reached the semi-final stage, and in 2016, their campaign went as far as the quarter-finals.
Flamengo secured their place in the semi-finals by beating São Paulo 2-0 at Morumbi and drawing 2-2 at Raulino de Oliveira. With a phenomenal performance in the second leg, making several crucial saves for Flamengo, goalkeeper Pedro Victor anticipates two more difficult matches against Santos in the semi-finals.
“We are very happy with this opportunity. It’s a very important moment because we know that Flamengo doesn’t yet have this title, and we are focused and prepared to pursue it. But, for that, we have two big games to play, and then we can think about winning the title.”
"We expect a great game; both teams are very talented and enjoy playing together. We know the opponent's weaknesses. We will go in focused, ready to play our game and return to Rio with a positive result," concluded the number 1.
