By Mariana Sa - inAfter a bye week, Flamengo returns to play in the Copa RS Sub-20 this Wednesday (5), at 18:30 pm, against São Paulo. The match will be played at the PUC University Stadium and will be very important in the quest for qualification in the competition, the last of the year for the category.
Flamengo's youth team, the "Garotos do Ninho" (Flamengo's youth team), comes from a 1-0 victory against Cruzeiro in the first round with a free-kick goal by Marx. In the same group, São Paulo beat Nacional-URU 3-0. The second round has already taken place and, despite Flamengo's bye, important results have shaken up the group. The Uruguayan team drew 0-0 with Independiente, while the Minas Gerais team beat São Paulo 3-2.

This will be the third edition of the competition, which features 20 South American clubs divided among three cities in Rio Grande do Sul. Among them, 13 teams are Brazilian, three are Argentinian, three are Uruguayan, and one is Mexican. The teams are separated into four groups of five.

The top two teams from each group advance to the quarterfinals, and the knockout rounds continue with semifinals and a final, scheduled for December 16th.

The Flamengo youth team has been drawn into a tough and difficult group. Their opponents, who will be played at the PUCRS venue in Porto Alegre, are Cruzeiro, Independiente (Argentina), Nacional (Uruguay), and São Paulo, three-time champions of the tournament.
