The Flamengo Adidas Cup 2023 has its big decision defined. Flamengo and São Paulo will face off for the trophy of the second edition of the U-16 tournament held at CT George Helal, in Rio de Janeiro (RJ). In the Semifinals, played this Saturday morning (16) at Ninho do Urubu, Mengão secured the spot after beating Atlético Nacional, from Colombia, on penalties. Tricolor do Morumbi sealed its ticket to the final by beating Colo-Colo, from Chile.

On Field 6 of the Ninho stadium, Flamengo came out swinging and scored the first goal after just 22 seconds, Joshua capitalizing on a poor clearance from Atlético Nacional's defense. But in the 29th minute, Arboleda pounced on a ball lofted into the right box and leveled the score. Three minutes later, Arboleda went from goal scorer to waiter, providing a superb pass for Diego López to turn the score around and put the Colombian team ahead. Mengão didn't give up and, in the final stretch of the first half, equalized in the 36th minute, with Wanderson converting a penalty kick.

In the second half, the teams didn't take many risks, and the tie remained, sending the final to a penalty shootout. Everyone converted, even the second half, bringing the score to 5-5. Goalkeeper Léo Nannetti then stepped up to save Obando's shot, giving Mengão the lead. Pablo then converted, securing a 6-5 victory for the red-and-blacks.

In the other semi-final, São Paulo didn't give Colo-Colo an easy time, starting the game attacking. The Tricolor's first goal came in the 11th minute of the first half. Lucca sped down the right, burst into the box, and passed to Otávio, who finished into the net.

In the second half, the game remained even, with São Paulo dominating the attack. Five minutes in, Perivan received a through ball on the right wing, sprinted toward goal, and struck a powerful shot high into the air to extend the lead. Twenty minutes later, Morales took a chance from the edge of the box; the Tricolor goalkeeper missed, and the Chileans pulled one back, but the score closed at 2-1 for the Brazilian team.

Mengão is seeking its second Flamengo Adidas Cup title. Rubro-Negro won the first edition last year after beating Santos Laguna (MEX) in the final and now faces São Paulo in search of its second trophy. The decision will be this Sunday (17), at 9 am, at Field 3 of Ninho do Urubu. Fla TV broadcast all the matches of the competition and will show the final live from 8:30 am.

The Flamengo Adidas Cup 2023 is a U-16 competition, and the competition rules call for matches to consist of two 35-minute halves. Five rounds of the First Phase and two Semifinals were played leading up to Sunday's final.
