Flamengo is defeated on penalties in the U-20 Libertadores final.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw in regulation time. Alan Santos opened the scoring in the second half, but Santiago Wanderers equalized late in the game.

Flamengo drew 1-1 with Santiago Wanderers (CHI) in normal time and were defeated on penalties in the CONMEBOL Libertadores Sub-20 final, played this Sunday (22), at the Banco Guayaquil Stadium, in Quito, Ecuador. After the draw in regulation time, the title was decided on penalties, with the Chilean team winning 5-4.

The game

The match was balanced from the opening minutes, with both teams trading offensive opportunities. Flamengo had more possession in the first half, controlling the ball and creating the best chances, but the score remained 0-0 at halftime.

In the second half, Flamengo maintained their offensive presence and opened the scoring in the 21st minute. After a good play, Guilherme passed to Alan Santos, who finished with a low, left-footed shot across goal to find the back of the net.

The Chilean team pushed forward in search of an equalizer and managed to level the score in the 44th minute, taking the match to penalties.

In the penalty shootout, Flamengo converted four kicks, while Santiago Wanderers scored five times, securing the competition title.

Despite the result, Flamengo concludes its participation by reaching its third consecutive final in the tournament, with three wins and two draws in this edition.

Now, the under-20 team continues its preparation for the remainder of the season, focusing on national and state competitions.
