Flamengo is defeated by Grêmio in the debut of the Brazilian Under-17 Championship

On Wednesday afternoon, at the José Bastos Padilha Stadium in Gávea, Flamengo began its journey in the Brazilian Under-17 Championship with a 3-2 defeat to Grêmio. João Vitor and Levy Dias scored the goals for the Garotos do Ninho, but they were not enough for the red-and-black team to emerge victorious in the first match of the competition.

The game began without any significant chances, with both teams analyzing each other and creating a few plays, but none of them particularly dangerous. In the 15th minute, Grêmio scored its first goal. In a well-worked collective move, number 10 Izaac Lobato scored the first for the team from Rio Grande do Sul.

Flamengo continued attacking and at 20, A good play initiated by Heitor found Jhefinho, who left Mateus Tiago free to shoot, but the ball went wide. However, on the next play, Grêmio extended their lead: Benjamin took advantage of the opportunity and scored the opponent's second goal in the 21st minute.

Towards the end of the first half, the beginning of a Flamengo comeback: in the 45th minute, João Vitor scored Flamengo's first goal, after completing a cross from Luiz Guilherme. The ball hit the crossbar and fell into the net, creating a dubious situation, but the referee allowed the goal.the following minute, at 47, from a penalty, Iago Valeije scored the third for the tricolor gaúcho.

After the break and following instructions from coach Daniel Franklin, Flamengo came back looking to play even harder and attack, as they now needed to come out and reverse the result. In the 6th minute of the second half, Grêmio's goalkeeper saved a beautiful shot from João Vitor and soon after, in the 8th minute, Levy Dias was in the right place to score Mengão's second, after a cross from Ryan Roberto.

The Ninho Boys continued to attack while Grêmio played waiting for Flamengo to counterattack, however, the opposing defense prevailed until the end of the game.

Flamengo's next match in the Brasileirão in this category will be next Wednesday (21), away from home, against Cruzeiro.
