The game
The match began with both teams closely studying each other. São Paulo was more aggressive and pushed forward more in the opening minutes. Little by little, the Ninho Boys began to gain possession of the ball in attack.
In the 29th minute, Flamengo created a dangerous situation. Douglas Telles made a good run down the right, dribbling past the defender, and delivering a perfect pass to Lorran. The number 10 shot was well saved by the goalkeeper. Bill fired the rebound over the bar.
Five minutes later, São Paulo opened the scoring. Henrique grabbed the rebound, the ball deflected off the red-and-black defense and went into the net: 1-0. The São Paulo team then extended their lead in the 42nd minute with a goal from Ryan Francisco: 2-0. The red-and-black team went into halftime trailing.
Just two minutes into the second half, Lorran lined up in the box and was brought down. The referee awarded a penalty. Germano stepped up to take the penalty and reduced the deficit for Mengão: 2-1. In the 9th minute, Felipe Lima received the ball at the edge of the box, controlled it with his chest, and attempted a bicycle kick. The ball went over the goal.
São Paulo scored the third in the 11th minute, again through Ryan Francisco, making it 3-1. After the ball went out, the red-and-black team tried to respond and narrowly missed scoring a second. Douglas Telles dribbled past the goalkeeper and shot at goal. Igor made the clearance on the line. The question remained whether the ball went in or not.
In the final stretch, the game heated up, and the Ninho Boys pushed forward to try to close the gap, creating a few chances. Despite their attempts, the match ended in a victory for São Paulo, who will hold a two-goal advantage for the return leg.
