Flamengo is the three-time champion of the São Paulo Junior Football Cup
After falling behind on the scoreboard, Rubro-Negro takes the decision to penalties and lifts the trophy at Pacaembu

This Monday (January 25.01th), on the 462nd anniversary of the city of São Paulo, the final of the 47th edition of the São Paulo Junior Football Cup was decided at Pacaembu, but the one who received the biggest gift was Flamengo's under-20 team. After falling behind on the scoreboard (2-0), the Rubro-Negro fought back, tied the match, took the decision to penalties and lifted the Copinha trophy for the third time in its history. Undefeated until the final battle for the trophy, the "Garotada do Ninho" also had in its squad the player elected the competition's best player, Felipe Vizeu.

The game
Flamengo took the initiative, pushing forward with a large number of players and tightly marking Corinthians's ball out. In the 13th minute, Cafú delivered a superb pass to Paquetá, but the number 11 was unable to control the ball. Although the black-and-white goalkeeper worked harder than the red-and-black Thiago in the first half, Flamengo opened the scoring, with goals in the 18th and 25th minutes of the first half. In the 31st minute, Flamengo had a great chance to reduce the deficit through Vizeu, who crossed the ball just wide of the post after receiving a chested pass from Paquetá.
In the second half, Flamengo had a goal disallowed for an offside call by the linesman. But it wasn't long before the ball went in again: three minutes in, in a play very similar to the previous one, Trindade capitalized on a corner kick and scored with a header. Just four minutes later, Flamengo equalized with Matheus Savio. After a corner kick for Corinthians—the result of an excellent save by Thiago—Flamengo stole the ball and sped forward; in midfield, Cafú provided a great assist for the number 10 to level the score at 2-2.
After Flamengo's blistering start, the pace of the match slowed and the heat in São Paulo intensified. In the final minutes, with the score tied and the weather still warm, both teams remained cautious and didn't take as many risks in attack, forcing the decision to penalties.
Penalty shootout
Coach Zé Ricardo opted for Thiago Ennes, Ronaldo, Kleber, Lucas Paquetá, and goalkeeper Thiago to take the first five penalties. Corinthians started the series with every player scoring, including Kleber, whose shot was saved by Filipe. Matheus Pereira then attempted a chip shot but missed, sending it over the bar. Lucas Paquetá then scored to equalize. On the last penalty of the Corinthians series, Thiago saved Gabriel Vasconcelos's shot and soon after, had his own saved.
In the alternating passes, Claudinho started and Thiago again made the save. The ball ended up at Patrick's feet, who struck a low shot and scored Flamengo's third title-winning goal.
