Plenty of grit and determination. That's how the first game of the state youth championship semifinal between Flamengo and Vasco da Gama played out, which took place Saturday (September 25.09) in Gávea. Despite playing at home and setting a strong pace, the Rubro Negro team, led by coach Fernando Vannucci, was unable to defeat the Cruzmaltina team. The evenly matched performance between the two teams was the keynote of the match.

With the score at zero to zero, Flamengo faces Vasco, next Saturday, at 11 am in São Januário, needing a simple victory to advance to the final of the competition.
