In the debut of the Copa Rio Sub-17, Flamengo drew 0-0 with Volta Redonda on Saturday afternoon (22), in Gávea.

The game
The Ninho Boys started the first half pressing Volta Redonda, and just three minutes in, they created a threat. Adriel arrived from the left and sent a powerful cross into the box. The ball deflected off the defense and nearly went in. The red-and-black team continued exchanging passes in the attacking half, waiting for the right moment to penetrate the box.

In the 13th minute, Adriel crossed with his left foot and Marquinhos headed the ball just wide of the goalkeeper's left post. In the 32nd minute, Fabrício Yan took a corner kick into the box and Iago rose to the third floor to head it in. The ball hit the crossbar before going out. The first half ended tied: 0-0.

Flamengo returned in the second half, attacking in search of the first goal. In the 15th minute, Volta Redonda hit the post. Rodriguinho then made a good individual play and rolled the ball back. Euder, who had just come on, fired a shot into the corner, and the ball went just wide of the crossbar.

In the 34th minute, Rodriguinho took a shot from the edge of the box, but the goalkeeper made the save. The red-and-black team pushed hard for the winning goal, but the match ended in a draw.

Mengão's U-17s return to the field next Tuesday (25) to face São Paulo, at 19 pm, at CT de Cotia, for the fourth round of the Brasileirão in the category.
