Flamengo remains undefeated in the competition, with 7 points and provisionally occupies the first place in the championship table. The game marked the last commitment before the grand final of the U-20 Intercontinental Cup, which will be played next Saturday (23), at 16:30 pm, at Maracanã, against Barcelona (ESP).

The game

The first half began with both teams closely studying each other and with no significant chances created in the opening minutes. Mengão's biggest opportunities to open the scoring came from defender Iago, who hit the post twice in the 21st and 47th minutes, which could have given the Rubro-Negro the lead. Bangu tried to level the playing field, but without much success, and that remained the case until the end of the first half. 

In the second half, Flamengo finally found its goal. In the 39th minute, from a set free kick, Pablo Lucio, who came on in the second half and returned to the field after a period out due to injury, shot into the left corner of the opposing goalkeeper's net, opening the scoring for Flamengo. Bangu, who had a player sent off in the 23rd minute of the second half, had been adopting a more defensive posture; however, after conceding the goal, they went all-in and, in stoppage time, in the 47th minute, tied the game and sealed the final score.

Next match: U-20 Intercontinental Cup at Maracanã

The focus now turns to the U-20 Intercontinental Cup, which will be played on Saturday, the 23rd, against Barcelona-ESP at the Maracanã stadium. The "Garotos do Ninho" (The Nest Boys), current champions of the competition, have once again qualified for the world title after winning their second Copa Libertadores title in Paraguay in March.
