Jorge scores, but the team from the interior seeks a draw

Flamengo drew with Cabofriense on Wednesday afternoon (11.02) in Gávea, in a match valid for the 4th round of the Campeonato Carioca Sub-20. With the result, the team reached eight points in the league table. The red-black goal came from the feet of full-back Jorge.

"It was very hot, it's difficult to play a game like that. I'm happy with the goal, as it's difficult for a full-back to score goals these days. I try to attack a lot, help a lot in the attack," said the number 6.

Zé Ricardo's team's next match will be against Boavista, also at the José Bastos Padilha stadium in Gávea. The match is scheduled for 15:30 p.m. next Thursday (February 19.02). Members can participate in the development of our athletes. Not yet a Nação member? Click here.

The game
The first half began with Flamengo pressing forward. The team pressed forward and gave their opponent no space. Cabofriense, cornered, simply defended. Flamengo pushed for the goal, until Jorge found the net with a beautiful cross-shot in the 35th minute. Flamengo pushed for an equalizer but found little space in the Flamengo defense.

In the second half, the heat slowed the pace of the match. Despite the timeouts, the players felt the effects of the sun. Zé Ricardo made substitutions, replacing Douglas Baggio with Thiago Santos, Nathan with Felipe Vizeu, and Juan Felipe with Trindade. The team kept fighting, but in the 30th minute, the Cabo Frio team equalized on a penalty kick.

Coach Zé Ricardo said he was dissatisfied with the result, but asserted his confidence in the team. "Today's performance was below our expectations. We had a good week of training, and we were demanding that they stay focused because they knew that if time went by and we didn't have the game decided yet, it could get complicated. We have to learn from this, it should serve as a lesson for us to reflect on our successes and failures and strive to train even harder to face Boavista."

"Another dangerous game, here at Gávea again. This is a team that will come with the same approach as in today's game: to defend deep and look for counterattacks. Today's game has to serve as a lesson," said the coach about the next round.
