Flamengo drew 2-2 with Corinthians away from home in the 18th round of the Brazilian U-20 Championship. With this result, for Flamengo to qualify for the quarterfinals of the competition, they need a victory against Avaí next Wednesday, July 1st, and a defeat for Athletico-PR, Corinthians, or Cruzeiro in the last round of the qualifying phase. Josmar scored both goals in the match played at Parque São Jorge, in São Paulo, this Thursday.

In the match against Corinthians, striker Josmar needed only 3 minutes to score Flamengo's first goal with a cross-shot into the left corner of the goal, after an assist from Alan. The opponent responded in the 8th minute with a shot that hit the post, and equalized from a corner kick, which Yago Melo headed in from the edge of the six-yard box in the 13th minute. The São Paulo team came close again in the 22nd minute when number 10 Gui Amorim shot towards the left corner of Werneck's goal, who made a great save.

The match proceeded without dangerous attacks until Flamengo had a good chance in the 36th minute: Guilherme made a good play on the left and shot towards the right corner. The ball went close to the post. Five minutes later, Josmar took advantage of a cross from full-back Italo on the left and scored his second goal of the match, this time with a header. In the 47th minute, Corinthians attempted a quick attack, but Da Mata got there first and cleared the ball. Before the end of the first half, the home team attacked again, this time with a header that went wide to Werneck's right.

The first attack of the second half came from Corinthians. Gabriel Werneck made a save, preventing a header goal in the 5th minute. The home team came close again in the 12th minute, with a shot from just outside the box that was once again saved by the Flamengo goalkeeper. Flamengo tried to attack, but lacked the final pass before putting their players in a position to shoot. Defensively, Flamengo didn't face many dangers, relying on Gabriel Werneck's saves and the good performances of Da Mata and Diego Queiroz against the opponent's most significant attacks.

In a breakaway down the left flank, Corinthians had another good chance from a set piece in the 28th minute. Yago Melo's header, however, lacked precision. Following that, Josmar went down the right wing and crossed low into the box. The opposing defense cleared the ball. In the 30th minute, Gabriel Werneck saved a powerful shot from Bahia's number 8. The São Paulo team was desperately trying to react while the Flamengo players fought hard to maintain the result. In the 33rd minute, Gusttavo almost managed a shot inside the box after a pass from Jhefinho, but the defense intervened to block it.

After a cross from the left, the ball fell to Luizinho who shot from inside the area, and the ball went very close to the right post in the 38th minute. Two minutes later, Araújo equalized with a shot from inside the area, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance. Before the end of the match, both teams tried to break the tie, but without creating clear chances until the referee ended the game.

The final round of the first phase of the Brazilian Under-20 Championship will feature ten matches next Wednesday, July 1st, at 15 PM. Cruzeiro will face Bahia, while Corinthians will play against Juventude, both away from home. Athletico-PR will face Vitória-BA, playing at home.
