It's champion! On Wednesday afternoon (18), in Conselheiro Galvão, Flamengo drew with Madureira 0-0 and won its seventh title of the Guanabara Under-20 Cup. With the result, Mengão guaranteed a place in the quarterfinals of the Carioca Championship and will face Tricolor Suburbano again.

The game
The match started quite tensely, with heavy marking in midfield. In the seventh minute, Flamengo created the first good opportunity. Pedrinho received the ball at the edge of the box and took a shot. The ball deflected off the defense and went for a corner. In the 18th minute, Andre almost scored Flamengo's first goal with a backheel inside the box.

With the majority of possession, the Ninho Boys exchanged passes in the attacking half, looking for space to make penetration plays. But Madureira positioned themselves deep and defended tightly. Despite a lively first half, the teams went into halftime with the score tied 0-0.

Just a minute into the second half, the Mais Querido threatened Tricolor Suburbano's goal. Max delivered a beautiful pass to João Pedro, who fired a powerful shot into the corner, but the goalkeeper saved it. In the 21st minute, Daniel Cabral took a low free kick; the ball deflected off the midfield and went just wide of the goalkeeper's right post.

In the final stretch, Max arrived late to a play, committed a hard foul on a Madureira player, and ended up receiving a straight red card. Even down ten men, the Red-Blacks continued to attack, trying to score the winning goal, but the match ended in a goalless draw. Despite the draw, the "Mais Querido" (Most Beloved) won the Guanabara U-20 Cup, securing the 14th trophy for the Red-Black youth team this year!

Next appointment
The Garotos do Ninho return to the field next Sunday (22) to face Sport, at 15 pm, at Ilha do Retiro, for the 12th round of the Brazilian Under-20 Championship.
