Flamengo draws 1-1 with Palmeiras and advances to the next stage of the Brazilian Under-17 Championship
Rubro-Negro will face Athletico-PR in the semifinals of the competition
By Romulo Paranhos - inIn the second leg of the quarterfinals of the Brazilian Under-17 Championship, Flamengo drew 1-1 with Palmeiras on Monday afternoon (23), at Allianz Parque, in São Paulo. Striker Werton scored the red-black goal in the second half. With the result, the Mais Querido qualified for the championship semifinals, as they had won the first leg 5-2, at Gávea.

The game
The first half started fairly evenly, with both teams trying to maintain possession. Palmeiras, needing a result, went on the attack more. Flamengo, on the other hand, pressed hard and didn't give their opponent any space to play the ball.
In the 18th minute, coach Ramon Lima made a substitution for the Mais Querido. Midfielder Victor Hugo was replaced by striker Werton, bringing on the team to give the red-and-blacks more speed and finishing power. In the 29th minute, the team had a good chance. Will passed the ball to João Pedro, dribbled past the defender, and fired a well-placed shot. The ball sailed over the goal.
In the final play of the first half, Mateus Dias came down the left, cut inside, and took a shot, but the goalkeeper saved it. The two teams went into the break with the score unchanged: 0-0.
The second half began, and Flamengo was already creating a great opportunity. Werton made a great play, burst into the box, and shot, which the Alviverde goalkeeper made a good save. In the 13th minute, Flamengo created the best chance of the game. Werton arrived well on the right and crossed low into the box. João Pedro threw himself at the ball and hit the post.
In the 26th minute, Mengão opened the scoring! Mateus Dias made a good play and passed to Werton on the right. The number 21 shot, the ball deflected off the defense and went in: 1-0. Three minutes later, Palmeiras equalized with Giovani's goal: 1-1. In the 34th minute, after a good exchange of passes, João Pedro dribbled past the defense and shot, which Natan made a good save.
In the final minutes, the Garotos do Ninho managed the result and left the field with their qualification for the next stage of the competition guaranteed.

Rubro-Negro will face Athletico-PR in the semifinals of the Brazilian Under-17 Championship. The first match will be held in Rio de Janeiro, with the date yet to be determined.
