Trailing throughout the second half, Flamengo pressed hard, hit the post with a penalty, but managed to score in stoppage time and drew 2-2 with Juventude, this Wednesday (30), at Estádio José Bastos Padilha, in Gávea. Bernardo and Isaac were the authors of the Flamengo goals in the match, valid for the fifth round of the Brazilian Under-17 Championship.
The goalkeepers hadn't made a single save until the 29th minute of the game, when Juventude took the lead with a free kick by Kauã Negri, which deflected off the wall and deceived goalkeeper Bruno Silva. Flamengo tried to attack with crosses and set pieces, but couldn't create dangerous plays. After scoring, the team from Rio Grande do Sul intensified their defensive posture, often with all players behind the ball, and tried to launch quick counter-attacks.
Flamengo started strong and the reaction was swift. Bernardo received the ball from Arthur Andrades on the right, challenged the goalkeeper and pounced on the rebound to score in the 37th minute. Two minutes later, João Vitor took a free kick from the left directly towards goal, but the opposing goalkeeper made the save. The team from Rio Grande do Sul regained the lead with a header from Joca after a direct throw-in from the right. Shortly before the end of the first half, João Vitor took a shot, but the Juventude goalkeeper made the save.
The Flamengo team returned from halftime determined to score the equalizer and had already created at least two chances by the 14th minute of the second half. At the 20-minute mark, Lucca Tatsch received a pass from João Vitor, attempted a cross, the defense cleared, and on the rebound, the number 8 almost scored, but the Juventude defense blocked it again. Four minutes later, the Juventude defender committed a penalty. João Vitor took a powerful shot, and the ball hit the crossbar.
Flamengo had more possession for most of the final 45 minutes of the game. Goalkeeper Bruno Silva barely touched the ball. The Rubro-Negro had a good chance with Guilherme Queiroz, after a cross from Guilherme Ivo on the right, in the 42nd minute. Shortly after, the goalkeeper of the Rio Grande do Sul team saved Isaac's shot. In the 45th minute, Isaac passed to Guilherme Queiroz, but the opposing goalkeeper got there first and caught the ball. The persistence paid off; Ricardo Pietro received the ball on the right and crossed perfectly for Isaac to tap it into the goal and equalize the match in the 47th minute.
