Flamengo faces São Paulo at Morumbi in the quarterfinals of the Under-17 Brazil Cup

After facing Londrina and América-MG in the first two stages of the U-17 Brazil Cup, Flamengo goes to Morumbi this Wednesday (31) for another challenge in the quest for an unprecedented title in the category. The Garotos do Ninho face São Paulo, at 16:15 pm, for the first leg of the quarterfinals of the national competition.
Wearing the number 10 shirt for the Mais Querido U-20 team in the Brazilian Championship in the category, midfielder Reinier, just 16 years old, was relegated to the U-17 category. to fight for the cup with his teammates.
"It was a very important time for me to be the number 10 for the U-20s. Thank God, my teammates and the coaching staff, I adapted quickly. At number 17, I'll try to pass on some of this experience I had, pass on communication, pass on some of the game and help my teammates reach the final objective, because that's what matters."
"This game against São Paulo is very important, our U-17 group is wonderful and knows how to play decisive matches. We're going all out," concluded Reinier, who turns 17 in January.

Coach Phelipe Leal's team reached the quarterfinals after defeating Londrina and América-MG. At the Estádio do Café, Mengão lost by the narrowest of margins: 1-0. At Gávea, home-field advantage prevailed, with Lázaro, Sidney, Lucas Freitas, and Rhyan leading the way in a 4-1 rout for the Ninho Boys.

At home in Gávea, Flamengo relied on promising young midfielder Reinier for the first time in the competition. It was his goal that sealed qualification with a 3-0 rout. Yuri de Oliveira and Rhyan scored the other two.
Now, facing São Paulo, the Garotos do Ninho will face off in a classic between the two best youth teams in Brazil, and the match promises to be intense. The São Paulo team began the competition with a tight duel against Atlético-GO. In Goiânia, the team won 2-1 for the Tricolor, and in Cotia, a narrow 1-0 victory was enough for the São Paulo team to qualify.
In the round of 16, a quarry turned to rubble. São Paulo ignored Atlético-MG, winning 2-0 at home, and despite the advantage, they went to Sete Lagoas and didn't make it easy, thrashing Galo 5-1.

There will be no tickets for the match, and admission to Morumbi Stadium will be free through gate 15 (visitors). The Red-Black Nation is welcome to support the Garotos do Ninho as they seek another victory in the U-17 Brazil Cup.
Form of dispute
In the quarterfinals, teams face each other in two-legged matches. The team with the most points advances to the quarterfinals. If the teams are tied on points at the end of both matches, the following tiebreaker criteria will be used: 1st - goal difference; 2nd - penalties.
