It's decision time! This Friday (7), at 16 pm, Flamengo starts the fight for the U-17 Brazil Cup against Fluminense at Maracanã. The match is the first of the grand final. This will be the fourth title match for the Flamengo youth team this season, having already won the Taça Guanabara, Dallas Cup (USA) and Evergrande Cup (China).

The Most Beloved is seeking its first title in the competition, which began being organized by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) in 2013. In its first year, the Red-Black team was defeated by São Paulo in the final. It then reached the semifinals in 2014, 2015, and 2017.

Flamengo's campaign

Flamengo began their Copa do Brasil campaign with a 1-0 loss to Londrina at Estádio do Café, but won 4-0 at Gávea Stadium. In the round of 16, Flamengo faced América-MG, drawing 1-1 in Minas Gerais and winning 3-0 in Rio de Janeiro. The quarterfinals were a resounding 2-0 victory at Morumbi Stadium against São Paulo, securing their spot with a 2-2 draw in Volta Redonda.

The semifinals were a tense match in both legs. In São Paulo, Santos and Flamengo drew 1-1, with Reinier scoring the red-and-black goal. In the second leg, the result was repeated thanks to Luis Gustavo's goal. In the penalty shootout, goalkeeper Pedro Victor closed the goalposts, and Flamengo advanced with a 4-2 victory.

Flamengo's coach, Phelipe Leal, spoke exclusively to the official website and analyzed the team's campaign in the Copa do Brasil. "The competition has a very interesting characteristic. It unfolded in a way similar to what we managed to build throughout the season. We had a very difficult start in the games against Londrina and América-MG, but we knew the level of the competition and the demands of those first matches. The team grew with each game, overcoming the difficulties with the support of our fans at home. I think reaching the final is a great achievement, especially for the players who had enough maturity to understand the difficult moment. We arrived very strong and very prepared for this final," said the coach.

Fluminense reaches the final after a penalty shootout victory over Palmeiras. The 1-1 draw at Arena Barueri left everything open in the first leg. In the return leg, the teams tied again, this time 2-2, and went to penalty shootouts. With four goals and only one conceded, Fluminense advanced to the final.

In the first stage, the Tricolor team beat Brasil de Pelotas 6-1 away from home, eliminating the second leg. In the round of 16, they won 6-0 and 2-0 against Cruzeiro, followed by two positive results against Corinthians (4-2 and 3-0).

Tickets

Sales are now open to support the Under-17 team, and season ticket holders pay less for entry. Tickets cost R$30 (full price), R$15 (half price) and R$10 (ST). Flamengo fans can buy tickets at the Gávea ticket offices. Opening hours are 10am to 17pm (Wednesday and Thursday), and 10am to 14pm (Friday, the day of the match). In addition to Gávea, fans can buy tickets at ticket office 4 at Maracanã this Friday (7). Sales at the stadium will take place from 10am until the end of the first half.
