Flamengo faces Oeste for a place in the round of 16 of the Copinha
With a consistent campaign in the competition, Garotos do Ninho return to the field this Saturday night
By Ian Sena - inOne day after showing excellent performance and fighting until the final minute for victory in the match against Nautico, the Garotos do Ninho only did some physical recovery work on Friday afternoon (14), at the hotel that is serving as the red-black concentration in Barueri. It was the first day that the squad did not take to the field since arriving in the city on January 3. Rest and recovery are the recipes for qualifying against Oeste, tomorrow, in a match valid for the third phase of the Copinha.
"We've reached a point in the competition where we play every 48 hours. The physical and mental demands increase with each stage, and the main task is to recover the athletes for these knockout matches," said Physical Trainer Felippe Capella, who added: "Therefore, we chose not to field the team and carried out regenerative training, led by our physiotherapist Lucas Mallet, with the athletes who played the most against Náutico. The remaining athletes underwent specific physical training with physical trainer Guilherme Esteves. We are very pleased with everything our athletes have achieved so far in the competition," concluded Felippe.
After four matches in the competition, Mengão remains undefeated, with three wins and one draw, in a consistent campaign, with 18 goals scored and only three conceded. This Saturday (15), the Garotos do Ninho return to the field, and face Oeste (SP) again, in a duel valid for the third phase of the Copinha. In the clash held in the group stage, the teams drew 3-3, in a very exciting match, but which gave a lot of morale to Mais Querido, who sought the draw after being down 3-0. Whoever advances will face the winner of Canaã (BA) and Juventus (SP).
