Flamengo is out of the Rio U-20 Cup
Team suffers defeat to Botafogo in the competition's semifinal
By Communication - inIf it was already difficult due to Flamengo's need to win by three goals to secure a place in the final of the Rio U-20 Cup, the goal conceded at the beginning of the game complicated things even more. Botafogo won 4-1 in the duel played on Saturday morning (17), at the Nilton Santos Stadium, and secured a place in the final.
After a strong start, with Bill's dangerous shot just a minute in that was well saved by Botafogo's goalkeeper, Flamengo conceded the first goal in the 7th minute, scored by defender Kauã Branco, from a corner kick from the right. The advantage left Flamengo comfortable on the field, while Flamengo tried to snatch at least a draw.
The Nest Boys fought hard, and the way forward seemed to be on the left, where striker Bill tried another shot, which grazed goalkeeper Rhyan Luca's left post. The opposition did everything they could to seize the game. Meanwhile, Leonardo Ramos's team kept making trouble, but the goal refused to come. Flamengo's attacks were unsuccessful and Botafogo ended up taking advantage of one of the rare attacks to further increase their lead, with a beautiful goal from number 10 Yarlen, in the 39th minute.
The second half didn't change. The opponent ended up extending their lead in the 10th minute, with Kauan Toledo. Botafogo still had time to score the fourth in the 38th, again with Kauan. Lipão pulled one back six minutes later, giving the game its final tally. Flamengo bids farewell to the Copa Rio with four wins, one draw, and four losses.
