Flamengo debuts with a rout in the 8th Dubai International Football Championship
In a strong competition between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, the U-16 team opened the proceedings by beating Al Wasl SC, the home team, 5-1.

In their debut in the eighth edition of the Dubai International Football Championship in the United Arab Emirates, the U-16 team, the "Garotos do Ninho," put on a strong performance, thrashing local team Al Wasl SC 5-1 (Reinier [2], Pedro Arthur [2], and Lázaro). Leader of Group A, the "Mais Querido" returns to the field on Thursday (12) at 16:45 pm (local time) against Al Ahly of Egypt. PSV, from the Netherlands, completes the group and will face the Rubro-Negro on Saturday, in a match that concludes the first phase of the competition. Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Al Nasr, and Shabab Al Ahli Dubai, both from the United Arab Emirates, make up Group B of the intense competition. The top two teams in each group will play in the semifinals.

Technically superior to their opponents, the Garotos do Ninho, led by coach Ramon Lima, attacked from the opening whistle and took control of the match within half an hour of the first half. Just two minutes into the game, Reinier passed to Pedro Arthur on the left. He attempted a dribble inside the box and was brought down. Reinier fired a powerful shot and opened the scoring for the Mais Querido. In the 30th minute, the duo worked again. Reinier received the ball on the right and passed to Pedro Arthur. The number 11 player cleared the marker and shot a low cross into the right corner, past the goalkeeper, who was helpless.
In the 18th minute, Lázaro drove the ball through the middle and rolled it to Reinier, who struck first-time from the edge of the box and found the goalkeeper's right corner, scoring Flamengo's third goal of the match. In the 25th minute, Samuel crossed to Lázaro's head. Named man of the match after the final whistle, he made no mistake and scored the fourth. Flamengo played beautifully and increased their lead in the first half. In a great move built inside, in the 27th minute, Daniel passed the ball to Pedro Arthur, who chipped it over the bar for a beautiful goal. In the second half, the "Garotos do Ninho" slowed down, but still created plenty of chances and missed a ton of goals. In the final minutes, the home team scored the consolation goal, finalizing the rout of "Mais Querido" in their debut in another international competition.
