Flamengo begins its U-20 Brazil Cup campaign this Wednesday against Porto Vitória at 15 p.m. at José Bastos Padilha Stadium in Gávea. According to the competition's rules, the first stage is a single match. In the event of a draw, the team's spot will be decided by penalties. If they advance, Flamengo will face the winner of the match between Atlético-MG and Real Brasília-DF. The match will be broadcast on Flamengo TV, with images.
Coach Bruno Pivetti concluded, on Tuesday afternoon (21), the training schedule for Fla's under-20 team before the match against Porto Vitória. In the activity, held at CT George Helal, all the details were adjusted to start the second and final national competition of the season on the right foot.
The U-20 Brazil Cup began in 2012. Vitória won the first edition, defeating Atlético-MG in the final. Flamengo has reached two finals but is still chasing the title. In 2017 and 2022, the Red-Blacks advanced to the final and were defeated on penalties by Atlético-MG and Palmeiras, respectively.
Parallel to the U-20 Brazil Cup, the Mais Querido is in the quarterfinals of the Carioca. Last Saturday, Fla beat Maricá 3-0 at Elcyr Resende Stadium in Saquarema, with goals from Alan Santos, Daniel Sales and João Vitor. The return match is scheduled for next Saturday (25), at 11 am, in Gávea. As it has the advantage of qualifying with two equal results, due to its better campaign than its opponent in the Guanabara Cup, Rubro-Negro can lose by up to three goals to secure one of the semifinal spots.
