The Ninho Boys have a very important commitment this Wednesday afternoon (03). Mengão debuts in the Brazilian Under-17 Championship against Atlético-GO, at 15:30 pm, at the Antônio Accioly stadium, in Goiânia. After two consecutive U-17 Rio Cup titles, the category is seeking its third national competition title under new technical leadership. 

Eduardo Zuma, who was in the U-16s, moved up to the U-17s with Filipe Luís moving to the U-20s. The coach has already led the category in the Recopa competition in 2023, against Fluorescent. Since then, there have been ten days of intense training sessions at the CT George Helal, the Vulture's Nest, preparing for the national championship. 

“We observed Atlético-GO a lot to identify how they play. We prepared for two weeks pro game and I believe the team is confident after the victory they had in the Copa Rio. And it's always a pleasure (being Under-17). I think I'll go back all with a category that competes in the championships nationals, there is a good opportunity all with that we make a debut there with the right foot, making a great match No. beginning of Brazilian”, said the new U-17 coach. 

Remember the two Brazilian titles 

Two-time Brazilian champion, Flamengo lifted the trophy in 2019 and 2021. The first time, Mengão qualified for the kill Kill finishing in 2nd place in group B with 18 points won, five wins, three draws, one defeat, 23 goals scored and ten conceded in nine games. He then played for Athletico-PR. and São Paulo until facing Corinthians in the final. The Boys from the Nest beat the São Paulo team in both decisive games: 4-3 in Pacaembu and 2 to 1 in Cariacica. Otávio, Lázaro, Daniel Cabral and Gabriel Noga were in this victory. 

Two years later, an unforgettable achievement in Volta Redonda. Until then, the 17 Brasileirão U-2019 campaign was impeccable. Best campaign of the competition with eight wins and only one loss, in addition to 23 goals scored and ten suffered in group A. In the quarterfinals, Atlético-MG was defeated, and in the semifinals, São Paulo. The grand final was against Vasco, which was very exciting.

After losing the first game 3-1, the Nest Boys turned the aggregate score into a major comeback. Victor Hugo, now in Flamengo's professional squad, scored twice and Petterson scored another, all in the first half. In the final stage, Vasco reacted, the cup was about to be decided on penalties, until Petterson, or Pet, scored a beautiful goal in the 43rd minute of that game.the second half. 

Now, in 2024, the competitiveness and the Rubro-Negro DNA worked on every day in each training session be put into practice by the Ninho Boys, in search of this third championship.
