The game
Flamengo's debut in the São Paulo Cup saw the red-and-blacks pressuring the team from the start. Relying primarily on set pieces and crosses, the "Mais Querido" created good opportunities to open the scoring in the opening minutes, only to be met by Ji-Paraná's tight defense.
In the 14th minute, however, Vinicius Souza received a quick pass in the box and took a chance, only to be stopped by the opposing goalkeeper. The rebound was blocked by alert defender Patrick, who opened the scoring for the Red-Blacks.
Flamengo continued to dominate. After great attempts from Theo and Hugo Moura, it fell to Pepê to extend the lead. From a free kick, the number 10 struck toward goal and confused the defense, making it 2-0 for Flamengo.
In the second half, Ji-Paraná tried to close the gap built by Mais Querido, but were thwarted by the well-positioned Flamengo defense. Pressing for an even bigger lead, Flamengo found the back of the net again in the 29th minute, when Lucas Silva received a beautiful pass in the box and, unmarked, beat the goalkeeper to score.
Shortly after, it was Wendel's turn to score when, with a superb individual play, he took the defender out of the play and scored the fourth for Flamengo. In the final minutes, Lucas Silva and Vitor Gabriel capitalized on their last opportunities to make it 6-0 for Flamengo.
