In the last round of the first phase of the Guilherme Embry Under-16 Tournament, Flamengo thrashed Nova Cidade 9-0 on Saturday afternoon (19), in Gávea, and qualified for the semifinals of the competition. The red-black goals were scored by Matheus, Jhefinho (2), Kaio Gomes (2), Rogerio, Enzo, Diego and Ryan Pablo.

Now, the Ninho Boys will face Vasco in a derby match to decide a spot in the final.

The game
The match began with the Ninho Boys taking the initiative and dominating the attack. And just seven minutes in, Mengão opened the scoring. Davi Waisman passed to Matheus inside the box, and the full-back fired a powerful shot into the corner to bulge the net: 1-0.

After the goal, Flamengo continued to attack, looking to extend their lead. In the 12th minute, Davi Waisman took a shot from outside the box, but the ball went over the crossbar. Flamengo extended their lead in the 34th minute. After a counterattack, Jhefinho received a beautiful pass, went one-on-one with the goalkeeper, and slotted it into the corner to make it 2-0.

There was still time for another red-and-black goal before halftime. Enzo made a good run down the right and crossed into the box for Kaio Gomes to finish, scoring the third and closing out the first half.

Early in the second half, Rogério received a through ball, entered the box, and fired a cross-shot. The ball sailed just wide of the goalkeeper's left post. Eight minutes in, Mengão scored its fourth goal. Jhefinho made a good play at the edge of the box and fired a shot into the corner to score his second goal and extend the Red-Blacks' lead to 4-0.

The Ninho Boys didn't take their foot off the gas and scored the fifth in the 14th minute. Jhefinho crossed to the far post and Rogerio finished into the net: 5-0. The sixth came in the 22nd minute with another goal from center forward Kaio Gomes.

Even with the huge lead, the red-and-black team didn't let up and scored their seventh goal in the 31st minute. It was Enzo's turn to make it 7-0. Then, Diego, who came on in the second half, also found the net, scoring the eighth goal for the red-and-black team.

Completing the rout, Ryan Pablo scored the ninth goal and sealed the victory. With the victory, Rubro-Negro qualified for the semifinals and will face Vasco.
