Flamengo thrashes Boavista 6-1 in the Rio Under-20 Cup

In a game held in Gávea, Garotos do Ninho play very well and win with a great performance

With another excellent performance, the U-18 team defeated Boavista 6-1 in the second round of the U-20 Rio Cup. The goals were scored by Ronald, Maycon, André, João Gabriel, Cleiton and Sidney. With six points in the tournament, the team now faces América, next Saturday (24). Fla TV will broadcast the match.

Mengão started pressing from the start. Playing solely on the opponent's half, Mario Jorge's team soon scored the first goal. After a good play by André on the left flank, Ronald finished into the back of the net. The referee awarded a penalty on an aerial challenge in the very next play. Maycon stepped up to take the penalty, displacing the goalkeeper, and extending the lead to 2-0. With the advantage, the Boys from the Nest controlled the action and went into the locker room with the win.

The second half started evenly, and it didn't take long for "Mais Querido" to score again. André pounced on the rebound from a corner kick and fired a powerful shot: 3-0. The pressure continued, and number 19 João Gabriel scored a stunning goal after Chrysman won a battle with the defender: 4-0. Not even the timeout could slow the youngsters' momentum, as they continued to create numerous scoring opportunities. The fifth came from a set piece. Marcos Felipe took a free kick into the box, and Cleiton, who came on as a substitute, slotted it home: 5-0. Boavista even pulled one back with a penalty, but it wasn't over. Sidney, one of the standout performers, raced through the middle and took a shot from distance to make it 6-1 and seal the victory.
