With the red-black debut in the Brazilian Under-20 Championship approaching, next Thursday, in Porto Alegre, against Internacional, the Garotos do Ninho enter a new phase in the season. While the main group trained this Saturday morning (19) at CT Ninho do Urubu under the command of coach Mauricio Souza, it was the newly created Under-18 squad that had the responsibility of entering the field to face Volta Redonda, in a duel valid for the fifth round of the Under-20 Guanabara Cup. And the Garotos do Ninho did well. 

Dominating from the first to the last minute, Mengão, which was commanded today by Mario Jorge, won 6-0 (João Pedro [2], Ronald, Ryan Luka, Maycon and Peçanha), reached 10 points and remained in the isolated leadership of Group A. In the next round, Flamengo visits Madureira, at the Conselheiro Galvão Stadium, in a duel scheduled for Wednesday (23) at 10 am. 

Flamengo started better and went in search of the first goal early on. Just five minutes in, Igor Lemos noticed goalkeeper Luiz out of position and tried to chip him. The ball sailed just wide of the crossbar. Flamengo pressed forward and opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with a beautiful play. Max controlled the ball in midfield, broke free from his marker, and delivered a beautiful pass to Ronald. He beat the defense and struck powerfully past the goalkeeper, scoring the first goal for the Boys of the Nest.

Mengão nearly extended their lead in the first half. In a quick counterattack, João Gabriel charged down the left wing and crossed perfectly for Ronald, who slotted home. The ball went wide to Luiz's left. 

Flamengo continued to play much better in the second half. In the third minute, Maycon took a powerful shot, the goalkeeper rebounded, and Ronald, once again well-positioned, fired a first-time shot wide. In the eighth minute, Ryan Luka burst into the box and shot across goal, which Luiz made a good save. Flamengo's superiority was significant. In the 15th minute, Maycon took a chance from the edge of the box, but Luiz made another good save, but the ball was palmed out for a corner.

Mengão extended their lead in the 25th minute with a beautiful attacking move. João Gabriel made a great switch to Ronald. He charged forward, dribbled past his marker, and crossed perfectly for Ryan Luka, who fired a shot past the goalkeeper. 

Undeterred by the attack, coach Mario Jorge made three simultaneous changes up front, bringing on João Pedro, Werton, and Filipe Chrysman. And within five minutes, Flamengo had sealed the victory. In the 35th minute, Peçanha crossed, and João Pedro scored the third. Two minutes later, in the 37th minute, Filipe Chrysman led the counterattack and crossed for João Pedro, who rose in style to score the Garotos do Ninho's fourth goal of the game.

There was still room for more. In the 42nd minute, Maycon unleashed a rocket from outside the box to make it 5-0. And in the final play of the game, the most beautiful goal. Peçanha delivered a perfect free kick into Luiz's top corner, scoring a stunning goal and sealing the Red-and-Black victory.
