Clube de Regatas do Flamengo deeply regrets the tragedy that left ten people dead at the George Helal Training Center in the early hours of Friday (8) and is entirely at the disposal of the authorities and families to help investigate the causes of the fire and, in some way, minimize the pain and suffering of the families of the athletes and employees affected.

Flamengo president Rodolfo Landim spoke to journalists on Friday morning (8). The director classified the accident as "the biggest tragedy the club has ever experienced in its 123 years of existence".

"I was previously involved in emergency response and the distribution of important tasks. Only now have I been able to break away from these tasks and come speak to you. We are all devastated. This is certainly the greatest tragedy the club has experienced in its 123 years of existence, with the loss of these people. We want to try to minimize the suffering of these families. Rest assured that Flamengo will spare no effort to minimize this pain as much as possible. The club is collaborating with the authorities so that the causes of the fire can be determined. No one has a greater interest in this happening than we do. Everyone at the club is in mourning," said the Flamengo president.
