In a very balanced game, Flamengo was beaten 2-1 by Atlético-MG, in the quarterfinals of the Brazilian Under-17 Championship. João Vitor scored the red-black goal in the match, which was played this Tuesday (30), at the Luso Brasileiro Stadium, on Ilha do Governador.

Flamengo attacked in the first minute of the game. Diego Guimarães played a one-two with João Carlos, who dribbled past his marker and sent in a dangerous cross. The defense cleared the ball for a corner, and Lucas Falcone struck a powerful shot to the right of the goalkeeper, following the rebound. In the 8th minute, João Vitor almost got a low shot, but the ball hit the right post.

The first 15 minutes of the match saw Flamengo dominate possession, and they also came closest to scoring. Atlético-MG, meanwhile, relied on counterattacks. In the 16th minute, Lucas Falcone took a free kick from the right, another dangerous move for Flamengo. Flamengo responded with a free kick, but Gabriel Werneck parried it away, denying the opposing striker a chance to score in the 18th minute.

A minute later, João Vitor's shot was saved by the opposing number 1. In the 30th minute, Atlético attacked again from a set piece on the right. The ball went out for a goal kick. The pace of the game slowed slightly in the final stretch of the first half, and the opposing team took advantage to try to control the action, without creating any clear-cut opportunities.

The second half started at a brisk pace. Atlético scored the first goal in the second minute, with a long-range shot from Índio. A minute later, João Vitor received the ball from Gabriel Amancio and tied the game with a run down the right.

In the 5th minute, the Minas Gerais team tried another shot from outside the box, and the ball went to Werneck's right. The retribution came in kind: the Red-Blacks pressed the ball out, and Lucas Falcone nearly scored the second. His shot from the edge of the box hit the right post.

Atlético began to dominate possession and primarily used mid- and long-range shots. After several attacks from the opposition, Flamengo finished in the 23rd minute with Matheus Tiago, who fired a shot over the bar. In the 31st minute, Flamengo again came through. Lucas Falcone passed to Pedro, who saved the shot, but the goalkeeper saved it. The game was decided in the 42nd minute of the second half, with a quick transition play by the Minas Gerais team, who scored the winning goal through Riquelme.
