Flamengo debuts in another important competition in the youth categories. The Rubro-Negro U-17 team will face Internacional-RS this Friday (29), at 15 pm, at Estádio Francisco Novelletto, in Porto Alegre, for the first round of the Brazilian Championship in the category. Sportv will broadcast the match.

Last year, Flamengo finished third in the first phase of the competition, with 37 points. They had 11 wins, 4 draws, and 4 losses; 40 goals scored and 23 conceded. However, Flamengo was eliminated in the quarterfinals after being defeated 2-1 by Atlético-MG, who would later win the Brazilian U-20 Championship. Internacional finished 16th, with 18 points. The match between the two teams ended in a 1-1 draw, played in Porto Alegre, in the 17th round of the competition.

After managing the under-20 team in three Brazilian Championship matches, coach Daniel Franklin left Belo Horizonte, where Flamengo drew 1-1 with América-MG, heading to the capital of Rio Grande do Sul. The coach will once again lead the Flamengo youth team in their debut in the most important national competition for the under-17 category.
