Flamengo's under-20 team faced Atlético-MG this Sunday (18.01) in search of a place in the quarterfinals of the São Paulo Junior Cup. Although they dominated the action and created the best chances, the Mais Querido ended up losing in the penalty shootout after a goalless draw.

Just three minutes in, Douglas Baggio deflected a corner kick with a backheel, but goalkeeper Rodolfo prevented the striker from scoring a third goal. Despite Flamengo's continued push for a goal, the first half ended scoreless. Early in the second half, Thiago Santos hit the post. The World's Most Beloved continued to push for the opener, but to no avail.

After the goalless draw, Flamengo scored nine of ten penalties, but Rodolfo's save on the final penalty eliminated the red-and-black team. The Mais Querido leaves the competition undefeated in regulation time and with three goals competing among the most beautiful in the competition. 

The team's next match is the Campeonato Carioca, on the 31st at 17 p.m., against Macaé. The match will be at Moacirzão Stadium, as a preliminary to the team's professional debut in the state championship.
