In the second leg of the Campeonato Carioca Sub-20 final, Flamengo was defeated by Vasco 1-0 on Saturday afternoon (15), in São Januário. With the result, the match went to penalties and Cruzmaltino won 5-4, winning the state title.

The game
The derby started with a well-thought-out approach, with Vasco pushing forward more, needing a win. Flamengo, in turn, tried to pressure their opponents' ball out to regain possession in their own half.

Playing at home, Vasco attacked more frequently, but without posing any major threats to Kauã Santos' goal. Meanwhile, the "Garotos do Ninho" (Nest Boys) positioned themselves well defensively and waited for opportunities to counterattack. In the 18th minute, Pedrinho received the ball at the edge of the box and took a shot, but the goalkeeper saved it.

In the 38th minute, Werton sped down the right and passed to Matheus Gonçalves, who shot into the net. The goalkeeper stretched to palm the ball away and prevent the Rubro-Negro from opening the scoring. In fact, the duo was the standout performer for Mengão in the first half, which ended goalless.

Early in the second half, Vasco opened the scoring with JP: 1-0. Trailing, Flamengo was forced to press forward. In the 7th minute, Matheus Gonçalves received the ball at the edge of the box and fired a shot. The ball sailed just past the goalkeeper's right corner.

The Boys from the Nest sought to attack, but Vasco managed to block the red-and-black attacks. In the final stretch, Kauã Santos made an excellent save and prevented the opponent's second goal. In the 39th minute, Lorran, who had just come on, made an individual play and shot from the edge of the box. The ball went very close to the post.

With Vasco's 1-0 victory, the match went to penalties and Cruzmaltino ended up winning 5-4. With this result, the Garotos do Ninho finished the competition as runners-up.
