In the first leg of the Carioca Sub-20 quarterfinals, Flamengo lost to Botafogo 2-1 this Saturday morning, in Gávea. Petterson scored the only goal for Flamengo in the classic. The Garotos do Ninho play the second leg next Wednesday (15), at CEFAT, and need to win by two goals to advance to the next stage of the championship.

The game
The Ninho Boys started the match strongly, and just two minutes in, they opened the scoring at Gávea. Pedro Arthur made a good run on the right side of the box and crossed low for Petterson to finish into the back of the net: 1-0.

Flamengo continued to dominate the game and create the best chances. In the 44th minute, goalkeeper Kauã conceded a penalty on Botafogo forward Léo Pinheiro. Raí took the penalty and tied the game for the black and white team: 1-1. The first half ended all square, despite the superiority of the red and black team.

The Mais Querido returned for the second half, patiently passing the ball around. In the sixth minute, Petterson received the ball on the left side of the box, cut inside, and shot low. The black-and-white goalkeeper made the save.  

In the 24th minute, Daniel Cabral passed to Igor Jesus, who took a shot from the edge of the box, but the ball went just wide of the post. The Red-Blacks continued to dominate the match, while Botafogo barely threatened Kauã Morais' goal.

At 37', Maycon Vitor came down the left at speed, invaded the area and hit a cross to score Botafogo's second: 1-2. In the final minutes, Fla went on the attack in search of the equalizer, but Alvinegro managed to hold on and came away with the victory in the first leg of the quarterfinals.

Next appointment
The Garotos do Ninho return to the field next Wednesday (15) to face Botafogo again, at 10 am, at CEFAT, for the second leg of the quarterfinals of the Carioca Sub-20.
