By Romulo Paranhos - inOn the afternoon of this Friday (11), in a match valid for the second phase of the São Paulo Junior Football Cup, Flamengo faced Figueirense and was defeated 1-0. In a match held at the Alfredo Chiavegato Municipal Stadium, in Jaguariúna, the current champion of Copinha said goodbye to the 2019 edition. The Santa Catarina team will face Trindade-GO in the next stage of the competition.

The game
In the scorching heat, the first half began with both teams closely studying each other, with the "Garotos do Ninho" (Nest Boys) passing the ball around, trying to find a gap in the opposing defense to score. However, with both teams pressing tightly in midfield, few scoring chances were created. The first dangerous play for "Mais Querido" (Most Beloved) came in the 14th minute. After a tight corner kick, the ball went just wide of the goalkeeper's right post. In the 39th minute, on a move down the left flank, Figueirense opened the scoring with João Diogo's well-placed pass inside the box. The first half ended with the Santa Catarina team in the lead.
In the second half, the Garotos do Ninho came back trying to pressure the Santa Catarina team from the opening minutes, but they couldn't break down the opposing defense. Striker Bill took the most shots from outside the box to equalize the score, but he was unsuccessful. Rubro-Negro coach Maurício Souza made numerous substitutions in an attempt to change the game's complexion, but with no success.
With the result, the red-black team returns home and postpones the dream of the fifth championship of the competition.
